About MyBackupGuy

MyBackupGuy exists to fix one expensive, scary gap: most people either don't back up their computer at all, or they pay monthly for a service they may not need — and plenty who do "back up" are relying on sync alone, which can fail them at the worst moment.

What makes this guide different

Most "free backup" articles stop at "install Google Drive" — and skip the part that matters: the difference between sync and real backup, and the cheap safeguards that actually protect your files. This guide is written from a real, working setup, with the honest caveats included. If free covers you, we say so. If your data is too big for free, we tell you the cheapest honest upgrade instead of pretending otherwise.

How this site stays free

MyBackupGuy is supported by advertising and by affiliate links to tools we'd genuinely trust with our own files (external drives, and dedicated backup services for people who outgrow free storage). Using those links never costs you extra, and it never changes the advice — we recommend the free option whenever it's the right one. See the disclaimer for the full disclosure.
